Riding through the Ozarks is like riding a roller coaster.
Rather than roads that wind through the mountains like in California or the Rockies, the roads here just go straight up and straight down. Luckily Mike had the the first few weeks of the trip to condition train for the last few weeks of the trip (apparently it's like this most of the way to the Atlantic from here).
We left the hunting lodge this morning at sunrise. I decided to pass on the turkey shoot offered by the owner this morning, I guess I'm more interested in the cows than the turkeys! Mike rode a total of 55.6 (steep) miles today and repaired his third flat of the ride.
Along the way we met a fellow cyclist who started his trip in Illinois and is headed to Arizona. Nicky is 22 years old and traveling alone with full pack and camping most nights. Mike and Nicky exchanged blog information as they passed. Check out Nicky's ride at www.nickytour.blogspot.com. He updates his blog as often as he can from public libraries.
Tonight we are in Marshfield, Missouri. It clouded up this afternoon and it is raining once again. It's expected to clear by morning and tomorrow we travel 65 miles to Houston, Missouri.
